Cogent AGF Classic
WEDNESDAY 6TH MARCH 2019
Join us on Wednesday 6th March for the third annual Cogent AGF Classic – an exclusive one-day road cycling event for Cogent partners and friends.
National cycling safety advocates, The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF), is seeking richer relationships with tech companies and tech leaders – partially as a means to fundraise, but also to collaborate on ways that technology will impact on, and can be used to improve road safety for cyclists..
Cogent’s objective for the day is to raise awareness of the work done by the Amy Gillett Foundation, and provide information and an update on their campaigns and projects.
This is a chance to share the road with other leaders from Melbourne’s tech industry and some of Australia’s cycling greats. Past guests have included Phil Anderson, Lisa Jacobs, Wade Wallace and Darren Baum.
Riders will be broken into groups of 15-20, completing either a 60km or 100km route that will leave from the RACV Club in Healesville, beginning and ending in the same spot. Following this will be time (and facilities) for showers and a gourmet buffet lunch with guest speakers drawn from ex-professionals and cycling industry company founders.
Each on-road group will have its own ride leader and support vehicle. The Cogent AGF Classic aspires to be inclusive of all levels of riders but to maintain safe on-road riding conditions it is a requirement that you are comfortable riding at around 20km/h for a few hours. If you aren’t sure about this then please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss (and maybe do a test ride together).
All you need to bring is your bike and cycling gear. Any specific requirements will be provided closer to the day.
All participating riders will be eligible to win one of several great prizes on the day. Random draw prizes include:
2 x GOODIE BAGS FROM KNOG (Valued at $150 each)
3 x ENTRIES TO WIGGLE AMY’S GRAN FONDO (Valued at $220 each)
CUSTOM COGENT KIT, INCLUDING JERSEY AND BIB SHORTS (Valued at $400)

ARRIVE & REGISTRATION
Recreational. Average speed < 20 km/h
Route is mainly flat and is for recreational riders who want a bit of a challenge. If you only ride a few times a month this is the ride for you. Anyone can do this ride. Part of the route takes on the beautiful Lilydale to Warburton rail trail with a great surface suitable for all bikes including your road bike. The route will include photo stops
Moderately fit. Average speed 20-25 km/h
This ride is intended as stretch for cyclists who regularly ride to work and want to push themselves a bit, or a club rider who’s form is a bit off and wants an easier day out. There are a few climbs, so it’s certainly a ride to challenge yourself.
Very fit. Average speed > 25 km/h+
This route is for the fit club level cyclist who is regularly doing 80-120km rides over various terrain on the weekend. There’ll be lots of climbing and we will be maintaining a good pace and rolling turns, so you must be comfortable with bunch riding. There will be a mid-ride option to bail into the ‘Moderate” loop, if you find yourself struggling.
