Masterclass 9: Working with Technical People
MASTERCLASS 9: WORKING WITH TECHNICAL PEOPLE
Almost every startup is now at least partially a tech business. In this masterclass we’ll help you demystify the terminology, processes and people needed for working on tech products, to give you the confidence to embrace the software or hardware component of your startup. By the end of it, you should have the tools you need to understand what’s being built without having to become a coder yourself.
IN THIS MASTERCLASS YOU’LL
- Learn how to work with developers to plan how much something will cost to build
- Develop an understanding of technical risks, and how to mitigate them
- Get an understanding of how developers think and communicate
- Hear what developers need from the non-technical people around them
- Go over the output of developers. What does it mean to own code, and how much is it worth?
- Investigate the idea of technical quality

We work with founders and teams to turn great ideas into thriving digital businesses. We’ve spent the last ten years figuring out how to build better digital products, quicker. Now, we use this know-how to get ideas off the ground and grow them into digital products that users love.
ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR
Craig has been building software for two decades, mostly for startups, and is now a Lead Developer at Cogent. He’s worked with product teams all round the world, and likes to think he can speak to normal humans as well as to developers. Don’t be fooled though, he’s unashamedly a geek, and spends his spare time reading science fiction and building period furniture reproductions.
